"We challenged the very foundation - the capitalist structure that had put us in slavery. We didn't talk about just getting some little something for some negroes as a piece of the pie.
We created our survival programs, our free food, our clinics, our newspapers, our school, our books, our music and our art.
We organized coalitions inside and outside the United States with the Brown Berets, the Chicanos, The Puerto Rican Young Lords, Poor White Young Patriots, with FRELIMO in Mozambique, Zanu in Zimbabwe, PAC in South Africa, even the Irish Republican Army in Northern Ireland and the Shining Path in Peru.
We organized around gay liberation, We joined in women's liberation struggles, We were involved in environmentalism & we fought for disabled independence.
We developed relations with revolutionary governments in China, Cuba, Vietnam and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea."
-Elaine Brown
